Ann’s first exposure to horses was as a child with her father’s draft horses. He was a logger and used the big horses to pull logs out of the woods. She had her first horse at the age of six and did a lot of trail riding and 4-H type events. She was in her twenties when she started getting formal lessons.
Shortly after that Ann discovered dressage and has been hooked ever since. Her best teacher was a fourth level Hanoverian gelding named Mickey D who was with her for nine years. She fondly remembers his forgiving nature and his kind eyes.
She now rides a Westphalian Gelding named Ritter who is the love of her life (next to her human family, of course). She has owned him for almost two years and is moving him up in the levels. She is planning to show him at second level this summer.
Ann loves to see the changes in horse and rider as they progress in riding endeavors together. That is why she says that she loves being a Trilogy consultant. She has the opportunity to view all level of riders and horses as they strive for their personal goals and she hopes to be able to play a small part in making their journey a little easier and more comfortable along the way.
