Fifteen years ago I could no longer stand being horseless. As I threw myself head over heels back into the horse world after a few child rearing years, I realised that buying a horse was the easy part. As a child, I never had a saddle, I always rode bareback, so I didn't worry about "saddlefitting".( Well, I did have a saddle, but when your a kid it takes way too much time and effort to saddle a horse, besides then you were supposed to CLEAN the saddle, and who needed a saddle anyway) So I purchased a horse, then another, but they both had similar problems. The saddle that I bought for me caused sore spots on both of them. I couldnt understand. I followed directions perfectly. I kept the cover on, I cleaned it,(my bareback days are over) and I could see daylight down the center!!! I searched high and low for answers, and without anyone ever seeing the saddle I was told it fit fine. That Fall, I went to Dressage at Devon, and met the wonderful people at Performance Saddlery. They understood everything I was decribing to them and had perfectly logical answers as to why my saddle wasn't working. FINALLY!!! Although I was a little dissapointed that I couldn't just buy one saddle and it would work on all of my horses for the rest of my life, my horses almost instantly went better. And so did I. I was fussed at for years to GET MY LEG BACK!!! Well, that was cured INSTANTLY with a saddle that was balanced. Its amazing what an Extra Gussett will do!!!
I'd like to think Iv'e come along way in 15 years. I am devoted to this company, and passionate about saddlefitting. And as soon as I think I know it all, one of my equine friends will humble me and teach me something new. When I'm not working, I spend my stolen time foxchasing on Bud (pictured) and riding my wonderful Dutch horse "Navigator" who is training 4th level with Fred Weber.
